Accessibility
The Island Council is committed to making its website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This means we work to ensure our content is readable, our layout is clear, and our services are available to users regardless of their abilities or the devices they use.
Current Status
This website is still under development. The structure and templates have been designed with accessibility in mind, but a full accessibility audit has not yet been completed.
We are actively working on:
- Making all content easy to navigate using a keyboard
- Ensuring good color contrast and readable text
- Adding alt text to images and icons
- Using clear and simple language (B1 level)
- Making video and PDF content accessible where possible
