Citizen Participation

The Island Council believes in open, inclusive, and active participation from the community. We are here to listen, inform, and involve you in decisions that affect the future of our island.

There are several ways you can participate and share your input.

How to Engage with the Island Council

There are different ways to make your voice heard:

  • Attend Public Meetings
Most Island Council meetings are open to the public. You are welcome to attend in person or follow along via livestream. Check the Meetings & Agendas section for dates and times.
  • Contact a Council Member
Do you want to speak directly with a council member about a topic that matters to you? Visit the Profiles of Council Members page to find contact details and areas of focus for each representative.
  • Send Your Questions or Suggestions
You can share your thoughts, ask questions, or suggest ideas by calling or emailing the Registrar Office of the Island Council. All contact information is available on the Contact page.
  • Schedule a Visit
Prefer to speak in person? You can request an appointment through the Registrar Office to meet with a council member or staff.

Public Consultations

From time to time, the Island Council invites the public to participate in consultations on important topics, such as new policies, plans, or projects.

When a consultation is open:

  • It will be announced on the News & Announcements page.
  • Details will be shared about how you can take part (e.g., public meetings, documents to review, or sending in your opinion via email).
  • The outcomes of consultations will be shared afterward to show how your feedback was used.

Your voice matters. Get involved.

Why Participation Matters
