On Monday, May 25, the Strengthening Your Civic Voice course was officially launched by the Island Governor of Sint Eustatius, Alida Francis. Strengthening Your Civic Voice Course

This valuable initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, ProDemos, the Registrar’s Office of the Island Council, and the Finance Department. The course was presented by the ProDemos team with assistance from the Registrar’s Office and the Finance Department to ensure its successful delivery.

A total of 18 participants took part in the course over the three days. The purpose of the course was to provide residents of Sint Eustatius with greater knowledge and understanding of the constitutional structure of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Public Entity of Sint Eustatius, and the roles and responsibilities of the Island Council, the Executive Council, and the Governor.

By strengthening citizens’ understanding of local governance, participants are better equipped to engage effectively in decision-making processes and become active contributors to the development of the community. Participants expressed appreciation for the initiative and were pleased with the opportunity to take part in the course, highlighting its value in increasing civic awareness and encouraging active participation in the community.

The Strengthening Your Civic Voice course reflects a shared commitment to empowering residents through education and creating meaningful opportunities for civic engagement on the island.
